Supporting children with understanding and managing emotions

Happiness is not about feeling the emotion of happiness all the time. It is about perusing a meaningful life with purpose that involves experiencing the whole spectrum of emotions.

Experiencing the whole spectrum of emotions means you are a healthy human being and these emotions are built into our system to help us navigate, survive and thrive in the world around us.

Emotions come to visit us with messages , they carry data about what we value and what is important to pay attention to.

Its very important for children (and adults) to recognise exactly what emotion they are experiencing by “labeling it” and then creating a separation from the stimulus and response reaction .

Typically we hear children say “I am sad“, „I am scared”, “ I am happy”, „I am Angry“
